The
Carbon Fund assures that, currently, for a single payment
of $675.00 (US) 450 tons of carbon as carbon dioxide will
be sequestered over a 70 year period for each acre of "Carbon
Credits" purchased. For a 99 year program, the payment
is $750.00 (US) for 500 tons of carbon as carbon dioxide
per acre of "Carbon Credits" purchased. That one
time payment also guarantees survivability of planted seedlings
for the first five years as well as provide monitoring,
management, and third party verification implemented by
a team of professionals.
The
Carbon Fund uses a variety of bottomland hardwood species
dictated by site conditions and determined by a team of
professionals.
The
average yield estimate is 25 to 50 tons/acre below ground
and 400 to 450 tons/acre above ground. These yield estimates
may change based on the adoption of different monitoring/modeling
techniques by national and international regulators.
Carbon
uptake is based on specific species density tables and soil
carbon analysis. The species density tables are from the
USDA Forest Service. Our field verification schedule is
as follows:
1) We
will conduct soil analysis on a grid pattern based on the
percentage of occurrence of soil types on the property.
These analyses will be performed in years 1, 10 and 20.
2) For above ground biomass, survivability will be verified
for the first four years. 3) Starting in year five, permanent
sample plots will be established for species identification
to be performed in years 5, 10, 15 and 20.
For
third party verification, we are currently negotiating with
a land grant university (Mississippi State University, Center
For Forest and Wildlife Research) to conduct third party
verification.
For
long term management of the property, we will contract with
accredited analytical firms. We have cooperative agreements
with the Mississippi River Trust and the Mississippi Land
Trust, which will monitor the environmental easement properties
and forest health each year for 70 years.
